Torphins Community Council is developing a Local Place Plan for our community and this proposal has been put forward as part of the process. TCC has not taken a position on the merits or otherwise of the proposal and will not do so until the view of the Torphins community is clear.

Avoiding Frauds and Scams – Presentation Thursday 1st May 2025 at 7:00 pm in the newly refurbished Learney Hall:
You are invited to attend a presentation by PC Mark Irvine of North East Division Crime Reduction Team to provide advice regarding the latest frauds and scams.
The presentation includes:
Real examples of fraud victims in the North East.
How to avoid frauds.
The latest frauds and how criminals are using new technologies.
Passwords.
WiFi safety.
Banking safely online.
Shopping online safely.
Sextortion, Romance, investment frauds etc. etc.
And of course, the opportunity for plenty questions & answers at the end.

The presentation will be followed by the regular TCC monthly meeting which community members are always welcome to attend. The Aberdeenshire Council proposed 20 mph speed limit in built up areas will be on the agenda.

The next meeting of the Aberdeenshire Council Bus Forum is taking place on Wednesday, 30th April 2025 from 7.15 pm to 9.30 pm. This will be held at Room F04/05, Inverurie Community Campus, Victoria Street, Inverurie, AB51 3QZ.

Local Place Plan (LPP) – Your Local Community Consultation! – Have your say now!
Torphins Community Council believes it is important for our area to prepare a LPP for Torphins. We have put our ideas together in a draft LPP and would very much welcome your comments, feedback and response. Learney Hall Refurbishment – Work starts 24 February 2025
Work starts 24 February 2025
The refurbishment of Learney Hall will start on 24 February to be complete by 31 March 2025. During this time the hall will be closed to the public. Improvements are:
Main Hall Floor sanded and resealed.
Lesser Hall Floor sanded and resealed. Room decoration. New LED lighting.
Kitchen Replacement kitchen with new fridge and cooker. New vinyl wood effect flooring. New windows. Room decoration.
Ladies Toilets Space reconfigured to provide two separate ladies toilets accessible from stairs. New sanitaryware and Room decoration. New vinyl flooring.
Gents Toilets New sanitaryware. Room decoration. New vinyl flooring. New windows.
Accessible Toilet New sanitaryware and fixtures. Room decoration. New vinyl flooring. New windows.
Entrance hall Room decoration; New wood effect vinyl Flooring.
Electrical upgrade There will be an Electric upgrade in the kitchen, lesser hall, gents toilets and accessible toilet.
Former Flat Storage shelving installed.

Torphins Welcome Pack.
Hill of Fare Wind Farm Application.
The planning application for the HoF windfarm has been transferred from the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit to the Division of Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA). A Reporter will be appointed who will decide next steps and how the public inquiry will be conducted.

TORphins Community Help (TORCH) was formed as a resilience sub-group of Torphins Community Council in December 2021 in the wake of Storm Arwen.
This group of community volunteers manage the Torphins Community Resilience Plan and support the community within the TCC Area in times of emergency
